由上图可以看出，MUD1这个老祖宗衍生出的子孙最多。
MUD1: The first mud. Written in 1978 by Roy Trubshaw and Richard Bartle.
It survives as "British Legends" on CompuServe.
MUD1的后代中，AberMUD这一支最为兴旺。
AberMUD: Written by Alan Cox. AberMUD was the first mud whose source was widely
available, which gave it a huge influence on the shape of mudding to come.
The earliest AberMUDs were hack'n'slash muds - you killed monsters and
scored points for treasure. AberMUD retained MUD1 and MIST's "Groundhog Day"
reset system - the game world was occasionally reset to an initial starting
state and play resumed.
AberMUD的后代中，又派生出Diku、TinyMUD、LP等三大支脉。
Diku: Combat-oriented mud, very much in the AD&D mould.
Diku的后代中Merc最旺，Merc下又派生出多种类型。
TinyMUD: TinyMUD revolutionised mudding, replacing combat and competition with
socialisation and world building. Made such a giant leap away from (then)
conventional that some didn't even consider it a 'game'. The first TinyMUD
collapsed under the weight of its own database.
TinyMUD下衍生出一大把MUSH和MOO等等类型。
LP: LPMUD在国内响当当，为什么？
因为它派生出了MudOS，而国内的MUD可以说98%以上都是在用不同版本的MudOS
做驱动引擎。补充一点，与driver配套使用的程序包叫MUDLIB，定义MUD世界中
都有哪些具体内容，国内几乎100%跑的中文MUD，而这数量巨大的中文MUD又几乎
100%是从ES2（新东方故事）派生出的，所以玩起来的感觉大同小异。
ES2是十来年前由一位台湾大学生从英文MUDLIB TMI-II移植并加以重大补充改造而成，
他本人的真名字不记得了，但nick却也是响当当——Annihilator。
